The North Coast Growers Association, operators of your local farmers’ markets, is expanding activities to include community education. These educational efforts will be undertaken by Friends of the Humboldt County Farmers’ Markets (Friends) whose mission is “Celebrating healthy communities through agri-culture.”

Friends’ vision is to promote agriculture through community education; knowing where one’s food comes from is an important lesson in creating healthy communities. We have a lot in store this year so please stay tuned. We’ll be involved in hosting tours for school children; taste testing peak-of-the-season produce at market; sponsoring a fall farm tour; and participating in thought-provoking, educational gatherings to expose community members to diverse food and farming issues. We’re excited about this new venture and look forward to becoming a year-round presence in the community...
